Burgos' range of uncoated woodfree papers for highspeed inkjet printing now includes two products with ColorPRO Technology. EVO bright silk and EVO cosmo, developed in cooperation with HP. EVO highspeed inkjet papers with ColorPRO Technology – ranging from 70 to 90 gsm - are certified for all HP inkjet web presses.
Mayr-Melnhof Group has completed the acquisition of the Kwidzyn mill
The Mayr-Melnhof Group (MM) has completed the acquisition of the Kwidzyn mill, Poland, which was agreed in mid-February 2021, after receiving approval from all relevant competition authorities. The acquisition of the Kwidzyn mill forms part of MM's strategy to grow in high quality virgin fiber-based cartonboard (FBB) with innovative, sustainable and cost efficient grades. Furthermore, MM is diversifying its product portfolio through the integration of an attractive pulp and paper production focusing on Uncoated Fine Paper (UWF) and Packaging Kraft Papers.
BillerudKorsnäs aims to divest the Beetham mill
BillerudKorsnäs is in a process with the aim of divesting the paper mill in Beetham, UK. The process is ongoing and no binding agreement to divest the mill has yet been entered into. Since BillerudKorsnäs’ machine glazed (MG) paper business has primarily been focused in Skärblacka, the strategic importance of Beetham to the rest of the group has been reduced.

European paper industry delivers on emission reduction and recycling commitments
With the slowing down of the European economy and the sanitary restrictions, European paper and board consumption decreased by 5.3% in 2020 compared to 2019, totalling 71 million tonnes.
Cepi members produced 85.2 million tonnes of paper and board, a decrease of 4.8% compared to 2019. This downward trend was observed in many other parts of the world, namely the US, Japan, Brazil and Canada.
