FSSC 22000 food safety certificate for Metsä Board’s Kemi mill

Metsä Board, the leading European producer of premium paperboards and part of Metsä Group, is pleased to announce that the food safety procedures at its Kemi mill have recently been certified according to the FSSC 22000 food safety standard. The certification demonstrates that Metsä Board’s mill organisation comprehensively ensures its products are safe for demanding end-uses, such as direct contact with food.

Chocolate producer Kultasuklaa chose Metsä Board’s eco-barrier paperboard

Kultasuklaa is a Finnish family enterprise, that has been making hand-finished chocolates at its factory in Finland since 1990. The company had one important wish for its new luxury ‘It’s all about love’ praline box: it had to have less plastic. In order to achieve its objective Kultasuklaa collaborated with Metsä Board, the leading European producer of premium fresh fibre paperboards and part of the Metsä Group.

Fibre-based recyclable food tray stood out at FEFCO Technical Seminar 2019

A Finnish start-up company, Jospak Oy, and Metsä Board, part of Metsä Group, presented at FEFCO Technical Seminar 2019 a new, sustainable fibre-based food tray. It can reduce the use of plastic by up to 85%, compared to traditional plastic food trays. The package combines the best functionalities of corrugated board and plastics and is recyclable according to local recycling schemes.

The European Carton Excellence Awards’ Carton of the Year made of Metsä Board paperboard

Metsä Board, the leading European producer of premium fresh fibre paperboards and part of Metsä Group, is delighted to announce that five cartons produced using its quality paperboards were selected as winners at the 2019 European Carton Excellence Awards at a ceremony which took place on 19 September in Malta. Metsä Board’s paperboard was used for the ‘Carton of the Year’ produced by Printpark as well as for the winner of the General Packaging virgin fibre category converted by K+D.

Metsä Board implements artificial intelligence in quality management

Metsä Board’s Kyro mill is to begin using artificial intelligence for quality management on its folding boxboard machine. Supplied by Voith, the software uses measurement results related to the quality properties of and the mill’s process data. By combining various process parameters and using statistical models the system can automatically predict quality values and adjust process parameters in real time.

Metsä Board’s FBB latest printed samples highlight recent packaging trends

To demonstrate how paperboard can boost brand appeal, Metsä Board has launched a new set of packaging samples. The samples demonstrate the various finishing effects and how the paperboard surface can enhance them and create impressive visual and tactile effects. The samples have been designed to inspire end-users in sectors such as food, beautycare, pharmaceuticals, luxury packaging and graphic applications. The samples are produced using the enhanced Metsä Board folding boxboard portfolio.
