Stora Enso invests in Forshaga to develop sustainable barrier solutions

Stora Enso is making an investment in dispersion barrier technology at its Forshaga site in Sweden, as a step in its innovation agenda. The investment of approximately EUR 10 million enables the development and production of paperboard with barrier properties that are easier to handle in a recycling process, have a lower carbon footprint and can be compostable in industrial facilities. The new equipment is expected to come into use during the second quarter of 2021.

Metsä Board paperboards hold industrial compostability certifications

Metsä Board, a leading European producer of premium lightweight paperboards and part of Metsä Group, is glad to announce that its paperboards have now achieved DIN CERTCO certificates in industrial compostability complying with DIN EN 13432 and ASTM D6400 standards. In addition, Metsä Board’s eco-barrier paperboard MetsäBoard Prime FBB EB also holds a home compostability certificate.

EcoVadis assesses companies' CSR achievements and has performed more than 65,000 assessments in over 200 sectors in 160 countries.

Kotkamills’ water-based dispersion coated ISLA® Duo barrier board receives industrial compostability certification

Kotkamills’ easily recyclable and biodegradable ISLA® Duo barrier board has received the Seedling and DIN-Geprüft certifications for industrial compostability.

The internationally recognized certificates have been issued by DIN CERTCO to demonstrate the biodegradability of the environmentally friendly product and the compliance of ISLA® Duo with the European standard EN 13432.

New Iggesund thick paperboard for packaging certified for HP Indigo digital commercial presses

A new thick paperboard from Iggesund Paperboard has been certified for HP Indigo for printing high-value applications on commercial digital presses.

The 18 pt (457 microns ) Invercote Creato 380 g/m2 is double coated on both sides, offering identical print surfaces on both sides, making it especially suitable for premium packaging applications The paperboard was tested and certified for the HP Indigo 10000 series and HP Indigo 7000 series presses.

The plastic-free eco-barrier paperboard, MetsäBoard Prime FBB EB, has recently achieved DIN CERTCO certificates in both industrial and home compostability. The industrial certification complies with DIN EN 13432 and ASTM D6400 standards and the home compostability certification complies with NF T 51-800.
