Mohawk Expands Greycon’s Finite Scheduling Model across Envelope and Substrate Converting Business

Mohawk has appointed Greycon to roll out opt-Studio to its envelope and substrate converting business.

Greycon’s solution was first implemented in Mohawk’s paper manufacturing and converting operations in 1996 and this roll out includes the opt-Studio ATP/CTP (Available to Promise/Capacity to Promise) module to improve customer service levels and on-time delivery.

 

ANDRITZ to upgrade screw presses for Metsä Board

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Metsä Board, Finland, to upgrade two ANDRITZ screw presses at its Kaskinen mill in Finland. Start-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019.

ANDRITZ will upgrade two pulp screw presses so that they can be utilized as bleach presses in parallel with two existing ANDRITZ twin wire presses. The upgraded screw presses will ensure the availability of the BCTMP (bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp) line even during maintenance work.

Valmet gets repeat order for a process and quality vision system from BillerudKorsnäs in Skärblacka

Valmet has received a repeat order for a Valmet IQ Process and Quality Vision (PQV) system from BillerudKorsnäs Skärblacka mill in Sweden. The system will be installed on the mill's paper machine PM 7 to maximize the production line's efficiency, boost end-product quality and improve business performance.

The order was included in Valmet's first quarter of 2018 orders received. The system was accepted by the mill and taken into production use in August. In 2017, Valmet supplied an identical system for the mill's PM 10.

ANDRITZ to supply major pulp production technologies and key process equipment for ARAUCO’s MAPA project in Chile

International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from Celulosa Arauco y Constitución S.A. to supply energy-efficient and environmentally friendly pulp production technologies and key process equipment for modernization and extension of the ARAUCO pulp mill in Horcones, Arauco, Chile. The order value for ANDRITZ is in the region of 300 million euros; start-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021.

Valmet-supplied world's largest production line for bleached softwood pulp successfully started up at SCA Östrand mill in Sweden

The expanded pulp mill SCA Östrand in Timrå, Sweden, was started up end of June 2018, according to plan. SCA invested SEK 7.8 billion in Östrand pulp mill expansion project making it one of the largest industrial investments in Sweden to date. With this project SCA Östrand doubled its production capacity from 430,000 tonnes to 900,000 tonnes per year and became the largest production line for bleached softwood kraft pulp in the world.

Papeleira COREBOARD acquires a Pasaban BM 2600 Winder

Papeleira Coreboard S.A., a company that produces 220 tons per day of cardboard for the paper core and angle manufacturing industry, has acquired a BM 2600 Paper Winder as part of its machinery and facilities upgrade project.  

Papeleira Coreboard is part of a group that includes Spiralpack and the paper core manufacturer Cicarsa. After a period of heavy investments to optimize their manufacturing process, they have become the benchmark for recycled paper in Portugal.
