METSÄ BOARD’S NEW STRATEGY AND FINANCIAL TARGETS FOR 2026–2030

Metsä Board’s Board of Directors has today approved the company’s new strategy and long‑term financial targets. During the strategy period 2026–2030, the company aims to strengthen its position as a leading partner for consumer brand packaging solutions.

The continued uncertainty in the operating environment and the unpredictability of the markets highlight the importance of profitability, cost efficiency and a solid financial position throughout the strategy period.

MM Board & Paper expands MCM® SMART production to third European mill.

MM Board & Paper, the leading European producer of cartonboard, is expanding production of GD2 grade MCM® SMART to a third European mill. The move gives customers greater supply security, shorter delivery distances, and more flexible production planning.

In addition to the established production sites MM Gernsbach (Germany) and MM Količevo (Slovenia), the GD2 recycled cartonboard grade is now also produced at MM Frohnleiten (Austria).

The largest and most modern consumer packaging board production line in Europe was inaugurated on 18 August in Oulu, Finland. The new line was inaugurated by Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo, Chair of Stora Enso’s Board of Directors Kari Jordan, President and CEO of Stora Enso Hans Sohlström, and Oulu mill’s Chief Shop Steward Olli-Pekka Kaikkonen. Stora Enso's Oulu unit serves the growing demand for renewable packaging globally and contributes to the transition to a circular bioeconomy.

Metsä Board's Kemi mill development programme completed

The development programme for Metsä Board's white kraftliner mill in Kemi has been completed in parallel with Metsä Fibre's new bioproduct mill. Metsä Board and Metsä Fibre are part of Metsä Group. In addition to increasing the mill’s capacity by 40,000 tonnes per year, the development programme will reduce the mill's energy consumption by 5% and water consumption by around 40% per tonne produced.
