Arctic Paper to develop high barrier biodegradable paper with co-financing of NCBIR

Arctic Paper Kostrzyn S.A., a subsidiary of the Arctic Paper S.A., has signed a contract with Poland’s National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR) for co-financing of the project “Development and implementation of technology for production of high-barrier biodegradable packaging paper” as part of the Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014–2020. The total net value of the project is over PLN 20 million, and the maximum value of the co-financing is about PLN 8.3 million.

Stora Enso to sell its stake in the Dawang paper mill to its joint venture partner Huatai

Stora Enso has signed an agreement to divest its 60% equity stake in the Dawang Mill in China, to its joint venture partner, Shandong Huatai Paper.

The joint venture Stora Enso Huatai (Shandong) Paper Company Limited operates the Dawang paper mill at Dongying in Shandong province in China. The mill has an annual production capacity of 140 000 tonnes of super-calendered (SC) magazine paper and other publication paper grades based on recovered fibre.

Stora Enso invests in producing bio-based carbon materials for energy storage

Stora Enso is investing EUR 10 million to build a pilot facility for producing bio-based carbon materials based on lignin. Wood-based carbon can be utilised as a crucial component in batteries typically used in consumer electronics, the automotive industry and large-scale energy storage systems. The pilot plant will be located at Stora Enso’s Sunila Mill in Finland.
