Digitally printed gift cards on thicker paperboard

HP Indigo 30000 digital presses can be modified to print on substrates with a thickness of 660 microns. This is the outcome of a development project driven by HP, Green Gift Cards, Transcend Packaging and Iggesund Paperboard.

“Being able to print digitally on thicker materials is an important step in producing gift and other types of cards on digital presses.” So says Graham Lycett, Managing Director of Green Gift Cards, who has been one of the driving forces behind a development project to increase the thickness of paperboard that can be used in an HP Indigo 30000.

Metsä Board to modernise finishing area at Kyro mill

Metsä Board will modernise its board machine finishing area at Kyro mill in Kyroskoski. The rebuild includes a new reeler, winder and renewal of the reel broke handling system. Metsä Board’s Kyro mill produces high quality coated folding boxboard and the new eco-barrier paperboard.

The investment value is EUR 20 million and the new machinery is scheduled to start up during autumn 2021. The annual production capacity of Metsä Board Kyro mill is 190,000 tonnes.

Metsä Board awarded the EcoVadis Gold rating for the third consecutive year

Arctic Paper S.A. Q3 2019: Stable result in a challenging market

During the third quarter of 2019, the Arctic Paper Group reached a turnover of PLN 794.4 million (compared to PLN 816.5 million in Q3 2018) with an EBITDA of PLN 71.5 million (vs PLN 82.0 million). On the consolidated level, the result remains relatively stable: while pulp prices fell during the period, market conditions for paper improved. The combination stabilizes our results as the fluctuations offset each other.

Ahlstrom-Munksjö and Metsä Fibre makes cross-audits in Germany

Ahlstrom-Munksjö and Metsä Fibre continue collaboration in safety. A pilot program started with cross-audits in both companies’ production facilities in Finland in late 2018. After encouraging results the companies decided to expand auditing collaboration outside Finland. In the autumn 2019 Metsä Fibre safety professionals audited Ahlstrom-Munksjö plants in Dettingen and Unterkochen in Germany.
