Recycled raw material shortages result in production curtailments at Metsä Tissue's Mariestad mill

The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the availability and quality challenges in recycled raw material for tissue production. This has resulted in temporary curtailments of the recycled paper production at Metsä Tissue’s Mariestad mill in Sweden. As a result of this, the fresh fibre portfolios will be prioritized in Metsä Tissue production and no wider delivery issues or tissue paper shortages are to be expected to end users, as fresh fibre raw material has a good and consistent availability.

Metsä Tissue is planning a significant investment in a tissue mill in the UK

Metsä Tissue, the tissue paper business of the forest industry group Metsä Group, is planning to invest in a new tissue mill in the UK. The plan consists of 240 000 tons of tissue paper production capacity, built in several phases during the upcoming decade. The plans are part of the company’s Future Mill programme to drive world class environmental performance in tissue production.

ANDRITZ to supply tissue plant to Astrabel, Croatia

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Astrabel d.o.o. to supply a tissue plant for cost-efficient production of high-quality grades to its mill in Belišće, Croatia. Start-up is planned for 2023.

The turn-key project includes stock preparation, tissue machine with air systems and rewinder, complete electrification and automation, and pumps.

Metsä Tissue, part of Metsä Group, is investing in its fresh fibre-based tissue papers aimed at local markets by renewing the tissue paper machine of the Mänttä mill. The investment is part of Metsä Tissue’s Future Mill programme. The renewed paper machine will be delivered by Valmet Corporation.

The renewal will significantly improve the mill’s energy and production efficiency and increase its production capacity. It will also allow for improving product quality, according to end-customers’ expectations.
