Metsä Board, part of Metsä Group, has been recognised by CDP for their work to engage with suppliers to jointly tackle climate change. Only the top 8% of companies who disclosed information for the full climate questionnaire achieved a place on the CDP Supplier Engagement Leaderboard.
Metsä Board recognised with an outstanding triple CDP ‘A’ score for its environmental leadership in climate change, water security and forests.
On Friday 1st October, members of the Greycon team started a collective walk covering the distance between their London office and their office located in Athens to raise money and awareness for WasteAid. Each member of the team is contributing their steps towards the challenge, which is an estimated 3,466,000 steps covering 1,733 miles.

Metsä Board’s Husum pulp mill renewal is ongoing, with the construction of the new modern recovery boiler and turbine in full swing. Metsä Board has set the target for all its mills and raw materials to be 100% fossil free in 2030. The renewal of the Husum mill is a significant step towards this goal.
Lessebo Paper has launched their environmental declaration for year 2021, based on 2020s data, and reports a continuous decrease of CO2 emissions. The production of pulp and paper emits only 19 kg CO2 per tonne of finished product, resulting in a decrease of 14% compared to last year’s historically low CO2 figure.
Smurfit Kappa has announced new targets to further reduce its fossil CO2 emissions, including its ambition to reach at least net zero emissions by 2050. It has also increased its existing intermediate 2030 CO2 reduction target by 15 percentage points to 55%, in comparison to the 2005 baseline. The company will have these targets validated by the Science Based Target initiative as being in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
