Increased capacity, greater flexibility and lower emissions at Arctic Paper Kostrzyn

Arctic Paper has completed an investment of EUR 10 million in its Polish mill in Kostrzyn. The capacity of PM1 at the mill has been expanded by 30 000 tonnes per year and the product portfolio has been extended. The investment has been fully financed by The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The main part of the project consists of a new press section for PM 1, supplied by paper machinery manufacturer PMPoland. The paper machine - which now is in full operation - now runs low weight speciality paper grades for both graphic and packaging applications.

“The investment opens for a wider range of products and qualities to be produced, both graphical and kraft paper, thus making the mill much more flexible, says Michal Jarczyński, CEO of Arctic Paper S.A. and adds: we have successfully improved not only the operating efficiency but also the energy efficiency of the mill, which will lead to lower CO2-emissions”.

Arctic Paper Kostrzyn manufactures high quality uncoated, wood-free paper under the Amber brand. The mill is the largest manufacturer of offset paper in Poland, and the second largest manufacturer of graphic paper. After the investment, the Arctic Paper Kostrzyn mill has increased its annual production capacity to 315,000 tonnes, compared with previous 285,000 tonnes.
